Legislative Seminar Series

The Legislative Seminar Series is designed to educate members on legislative topics and issues during the 2024 Legislative session. With such a vast statewide membership, this provides an opportunity for member to be prepared to advocate on behalf of the Oklahoma CareerTech system! These virtual lunch-n-learn sessions are free to attend and will be recorded to review post the session. Recorded sessions included below.

Each year, the State Department of CareerTech provides an Appropriations Request in hopes to increase the funding for the Oklahoma CareerTech system. On January 30th, join us to hear from Oklahoma CareerTech State Director, Brent Haken, regarding the details of his request this Legislative Session.

This session will provide a broad overview of the latest updates in federal policy impacting CTE, including both legislative and regulatory activity. We’ll also share how you can get more involved in policy activities and advocate for CTE.

Ok CareerTech Overview

Oklahoma’s approach to the delivery of Career and Technical Education is unique and often misunderstood. This presentation was developed as a discussion guide for meeting with elected officials to help them have a greater knowledge of Oklahoma’s CareerTech system; particularly as they are considering legislation. It also provides an opportunity for those of us who work within the system to have a better understanding of how our different delivery arms work together (and independently) to provide value to Oklahoma’s economy and our citizenry.
