Professional organizations are formed to advance the interests of individuals associated within a particular profession and are only as strong as the involvement of its membership. As a career and technology education administrator in Oklahoma, I believe our professional organization, the OkACTE, is the strongest and most publicly recognized state CTE organization. However, as members we often take for granted the opportunities for professional growth and member networking we have within our state.
As the next OkACTE President, I will strive to increase the awareness and participation of members within each division. We must provide opportunities for members to appreciate the value of our OkACTE activities and increase member understanding that their involvement not only benefits themselves, but also makes our Oklahoma CTE professional organization stronger. It is essential that we continually focus on networking and professional development activities to equip and unite each career and technology educator in Oklahoma.

In our lifetime, we have never seen such a divided world. Add in a global pandemic, and people can quickly become disenchanted and want to disconnect. OkACTE is the vehicle we can use to connect with others through networking and collaboration. Oklahoma is well known throughout the country for having one of the best CareerTech systems, and OkACTE is positioned to help ensure it stays that way.
I am a product of CTE, taught CTE, worked in BIS, and am currently an administrator. I am in a unique position because I understand our entire system. Soon we will have a new state director, state superintendent, and Oklahoma secretary of education. As the next OkACTE president, I will advocate for members and educate policymakers to protect the greatest CTE systems in our country. This safeguards our mission and guarantees that future generations have the same opportunities OkACTE provides so well.
